President Gavel:

April 10, 2008 Just a note to everyone that we just launched our new web site. It is www.huntershelpingkids.org . We will be maintaining it on regular bases. We will work hard to keep things updated for every one.

 Secretary Bonnie Miller was busy. She contacted Michael Waddell. Yes, Michael Waddell to see if he could help us get started. We would like to have him up for our banquet / auction night. He emailed Bonnie back and he is checking his schedule and going to get back to her.

 Our next meeting will be on April 20, 2008 at President Troy Miller's home. We will be getting ready to meet with President Dodson the following weekend in New York turkey hunting. We will also be gearing up for MR. Dennis Campbell from Virginia to be at the next meeting on May 18,^, 2008 in Amberson, PA.

Hi and welcome to another President Gavel. We left on April 24^th to Pulaski, New York. We had a great time up there with our sister chapter. We salute Dick Worden and his crew on putting on a great event. They had 50 kids hunting turkey and 14 got.

We took Danielle Strickhouser up to hunt turkey after the first day of high winds the turkey caller was getting nervous. Yes it was I!  Well we went back to Dick Worden farm the next morning and we saw several nice turkeys we had a long beard coming in but we had 3 jakes pop up and I told Danielle to shoot. She made a great shot stepped it off 50 yards. I set so ling waiting for them that when I got up to help get the turkey my foot and leg want to sleep and I fell right on my but. Thank God for being over weight. The turkey was 17 ½ pounds. It had 5 ½” beard not to bad for her first bird.

I talked to Mr. Worden Monday and thanked him for leaving us to come up and hunt. We will be there again I promises you that. We met Dale Dodson from the national chapter. If you never met him before you will be in for a treat. This man should be on your list to meet before you go to heaven I promises you that. He told us some stories of kids that the national chapter has taken hunting. It really touches your hart.   

Our banquet is scheduled for February 21, 2009; Dale Dodson is going to auction the items off. We are working trying to get a celebrity at this function. It will be at the Buchanan Fire Company in Adams County, PA.  We also are working on the schedule for the chicken BBQ.

Talked to Dennis Campbell from Virginia this week he is coming up to meet us on May 18, 2008 at Gander Mountain. We look forward in meeting him for the first time also. We are trying to come up with some ways to get things done here so if you think of something contact us and leave us know.

Till next time take a kid hunting and you will never forget the time the rest of your life. The look in Danielle’s face brought back memories of my first bird and I know she will keep them A LIFE TIME ALSO!
